This Wednesday they face Barcelona and Liverpool in the first leg of the semi-finals of the Champions League. They do it in Camp Nou and, as logically, the Barça part as a favorite.
But what if we say that the Reds are a bigger threat to the Catalans?
We would do it with the foundation, since the historical precedents are located on the English side. To date, three qualifiers … and all ended with victory and move to the next round of Liverpool!
Two of them were in the UEFA Europa League, in the 1975-76 and 2000-01 seasons. In the first, Liverpool won 0-1 in Barcelona and on British soil the return ended with a tie to one goal. In the second, in Barcelona there was a goalless draw and Liverpool won 1-0 in Anfield. In both cases they were semifinals.
There is also a precedent in the Champions. In the second round of the 2006-07 season. In Barcelona, the English won by 1-2. And although Barca won 0-1 in London, that result was not enough to overcome.
Surely you have noticed: in all three cases the first leg was played at Camp Nou. As it will be in these semi-finals of the Champions League.
For all this we say that Liverpool is a great threat to Barcelona and that’s how they consider it in the Catalan club before facing the duel with the English. So are the bets for the big tie between Barça and Liverpool.
